Windows 10 News Widget.

Have you noticed that there is a new icon in your taskbar that is showing the weather?  This is the new Windows 10 News Widget that has come in with a recent update.

If you hover your mouse over it a partial screen will pop up with news and a more detailed weather forecast.  This pop up is highly customizable.  You can delete items you have no interest in and add things that you want to read about.  If you don’t want to see it at all, you can remove it from your taskbar.

At first, I thought it was rather invasive and I didn’t like it, but after I looked at it a little closer and saw all the options for news items, I decided to give it a try.

To customize your news feed, click on “Manage Interests” at the top right of the pop-up.  This will take you to a website where you can click on different interests that you want to see.  You can also search for something if you don’t see it listed.  Just click on the little plus (+) symbols next to the item you want to add.

Each of the boxes within the news feed also can be customized or deleted.  Click on the three dots that are at the top right of each of the sections and you will be given choices to remove it, or see more like it, etc.

If you do decide you don’t like the news feed at all you can remove it from your task bar by right clicking on the weather symbol.  Toward the top of the list that shows you will see “News and Interests”.  Click it and you will be given the option to remove it from the taskbar.  If you turn it off and later decide to turn it on, the option will be there when you right click your taskbar.

Have a great week!
