Cool Windows 10 Features
I learned a few new tricks this week. Windows 10 tricks that I didn’t know about. Some of these are worth looking at just for the wow factor, here are two of them.
The first one is the built in windows Game Bar. Now I’m not a gamer, but for those of you that are, this may be a useful tool as it has some Xbox items built in. For those who aren’t gamers, it’s still a fun tool to look at. To launch it, hold down the “Windows” button on your keyboard and press the G button. You’ll need to be at your windows desktop screen for this to work. To get out of it, just click the screen and it goes away. The part I found most interesting is the CPU usage graph. It tells you how hard your computer is working. You can also change the volume here and take screen captures and video captures.
✔The next one worth mentioning is the Emoji Keyboard. This one is kind of fun, and I used it when writing this article to place the checkmark in front of this paragraph. You can launch this tool by holding down the “Windows” button and pressing the semi-colon key. It will pop up on top of your emails or documents and you can choose an emoji just like you do from your phone when texting. There are some fun Koamoji sequences you can choose from too.
These are little pictures that are created by using keyboard characters, like this :-D which is a smiley face sideways. Those of you of a certain age, like me, will remember these before we had full blown emojis. You can also get special characters from this tool, such as the Trademark and degree symbol. These have always been a challenge to figure out for me.
Try out these two tools and see what you think. Never too late to learn new tricks ;-).
Have a great week!

I’ve lived in the Randle area for the past 20 years, moving here from Kent in 1999 to get out of the city life and never looked back. I have three children, my oldest daughter lives in Seattle and the younger daughter and son live in Randle. I’m blessed with three beautiful grandkids.
I started working with computers in the early 80’s when I worked at the Air Traffic Control Center (FAA) in Auburn, WA. I worked there for 12 years and eventually ended up in the computer lab overseeing new Air Traffic Control students doing their required computer training. From there, I took a job with Boeing in their Computer Based Training department developing the computer training materials that airplane customers receive when they buy Boeing’s planes. Except for a few Boeing layoffs and re-hires, I worked there until 2015 when our department was disolved and the work moved elsewhere to save money.
Since leaving Boeing I have worked at a variety of jobs in the valley. While working at Fischer’s Market I met Robert. After he learned of my computer background he told me he was wanting to retire at some point and was looking for someone to work with him and possibly pass the torch to. For the past 6 months or so I’ve been working as his assistant and learning his business. On March 31, I officially purchased ComputerFAQ from him and am very excited to continue his work.
