Splendor or Squalor?
The Lord protects everyone who follows Him, but the wicked follow a road that leads to ruin. Psalms 1:6
Most are familiar with the prodigal son. He went to his father demanded his inheritance immediately went away and squandered it on useless things and useless friends. We relate it to someone living a wayward life, but it refers to us as well. We too can behave in a prodigal way. Like the son, we take what the Lord gives squander it selfishly and that is wickedness. This won’t be easy to admit to or face, but what exactly have you done with what you’ve been given? That paycheck each week, do you ask the Lord how to best use it or do you have your own agenda? Each day the Lord’s given you, what do you do with it?
What about other things in your life from the Lord, do they honor Him or you?
I realize this topic is tough, but one that should be examined closely. God the Father had given us each day, every breath and our every ability. If we’re indulging our own agenda then we’re are as prodigal as that son in the Bible. Everything is given by God, what are we doing with it? Some willing wait for what the Lord has for them to come in due season, but others want everything right now living controlled not by the will of the Father, but their own and we know that has only one outcome, alone in a pig sty. Where do you want to be, in the splendor of the Lord presence or alone in squalor? It’s never too late to go back to the open arms of the Lord. It’s far better to dine upon the blessing of God than the slop of this world.
