Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Take now your son, your only son, whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer on one of the mountains of which I will tell you.” Genesis 22: 1-2
Isaac was God’s promise that Abraham would be the father of many nations and now Abraham was asked to offer his son as a sacrifice. Abraham didn’t question God. He got up early, saddled his donkey, split wood for the offering and went to the mountain God told him to. Even when Isaac asked where the sacrifice was - Abraham simply answered, “God will provide.” Abraham knew that God would accomplish what He’d promised and was willing to worship God sacrificially.
Are you facing a mountain? Are you waiting upon God’s promise to happen? Is He asking you to give up something dear? Worship Him. Worship in the worst of circumstances. Worship in the darkest of days when hope has flown. Satan loves it when you’re mired in the pitfalls of life. When you surrender your pain and worship in spite of how you feel the ladder of heaven extends into the pit, and Jesus descends to lift you up and out.
God stayed Abraham’s hand from applying the deathblow and provided another sacrifice. He tested Abraham’s trust in His promise of provision. Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide.”
Turn mourning into joy through sacrificial worship and believe in the Lord’s provision no matter how dismal things look. Your eyes and emotions deceive, but the Lord never will. Worship beyond what you see and feel. Worship the Lord and turn your mountains of pain into monuments of victory and promise.
