But when she could not hide him any longer, she took a basket made of reeds and covered it with tar to make it watertight. She put the baby in it and then placed it in the tall grass at the edge of the river. Exodus 2:3
Ever feel like you're just
drifting in life? It is possible that there's purpose. That
the Lord has you drifting toward an intended destination?
If Moses' mother hadn't set him adrift Pharaoh's daughter wouldn't
have found him and raised as a Prince of Egypt to see the suffering
of his people and become so angry he killed an Egyptian taskmaster,
then running for his life and ending up in the land of Median,
marrying into a family who trusted in God.
No one knew Moses was chosen by God to deliver the Israelites,
but this was God's plan when he was set adrift.
We don't like drifting, feeling as if life's an aimless pursuit.
Yet if we allow it to be God's plan it becomes an intended course.
There's a definite direction for us even if we don't see it right
away. Moses' mother was just trying to save her baby from death.
Her heart must have sank as Pharaoh's daughter, the Pharaoh who
ordered the execution of the babies, was given the basket, but
God was in charge and the basket drifted where intended.
Be encouraged, if God could control a basket He can surely control
where your life is going. There's a reason for everything, it's
all mapped out, every mile, every turn, and every rest area
Let the Lord use your drifting for sailing, we can't see it, but
He can.
