"You enlarge my steps under me, and my feet have not slipped." 2 Samuel 22:37
"Do you notice anything?"
my friend said to me one evening. He was wearing one old and
one new shoe. The old one was so dirty it was dark grey, and
the new one glowed compared to it. He explained, "The old
one is broken-in and so very comfortable. The new one is tight
and not so comfortable, but I need to be uncomfortable in order
to get to enjoy the new shoes which eventually become comfortable."
When God asks us to go new directions, He also gives us new shoes
to walk in. At first, it isn't comfortable so we put on the old
shoes once more, but those shoes can't handle the new terrain
because they're worn out. We'll slip and slide without good traction
and need to put on the new shoes. As we wear them, they'll get
broken-in and fit much better. Then, we'll have the proper traction
and good footing for the new paths we must travel.
He doesn't call us to do something we know nothing about, but
He calls us to use all the qualities and gifts that He has already
given us, and then shows us how to use them properly.
Don't be afraid to put on the new shoes God is giving you. If
someone else has to fill them - they won't fit right; they only
fit you. Put them on and go so that when you stand before Him
He will say, "Well done!"
