Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. Hebrews 5:8
Jesus wasn't the perfect sacrifice
until He came to live and walk among us. It's true. Yes, He
was perfect, but until He actually had to say no to the same things
we have to and He had to be obedient in suffering, He was not
the perfect sacrifice.
This may seem difficult to understand, but it's simple, He had
to go through suffering and turmoil in obedience, to withstand
temptation and not give in and to follow the directions for His
life given by His Father. From the time He was born until He
died, He had to endure or succumb to what was thrown at Him from
all sides.
I know that I'm more likely to listen and be advised by someone
who has gone through tough situations, endured and learned something.
Jesus doesn't want to just tell us what to do; He wants you to
know that He understands because He went through it too.
I am glad that the friendship I have with Jesus is founded on
His great love for me. That He didn't just pop down from heaven,
jump upon the cross and pretend to suffer and die.
But instead chose to understand me by suffering and choosing to
obey even though He didn't necessarily want to. He said, "Father
I don't want to endure this, but not My will be done but Yours."
When He asks me to do something that might be uncomfortable I'll
remember He did what was uncomfortable in order to obey. I will
follow His leading and example.
