You are shipwrecked and holding
onto the wreckage is all that's keeping you alive, suddenly rescue
comes. But to be rescued you have to let go of the wreckage and
grab hold of what will save your life.
As we walk through this life we encounter situations that will
leave us with a sense of shipwreck. It can be different for each
of us. We suffer the shipwreck of death, illness, broken relationships
or financial disaster. Never the less we are left clinging to
pieces of wreckage in order to stay afloat.
Jesus is waiting to be our rescue. He is reaching to pluck us
out of the wreck. In order to be rescued we have to stop holding
on to the wreckage of our lives and lay hold of the hope and promise
which is the rescue that Jesus offers.
It is impossible to hold onto what Jesus offers if we don't stop
holding to the problems and pains in our lives. It's time to
stop holding on to what will eventually pull you under and grab
hold of the lifeline of peace, joy and hope. Is what you're holding
on to really bringing you any joy at all? Or is it filling you
with misery and emptiness?
As you face a new year make a resolution that will really make
a difference in your life. Hold onto Jesus and let go of the
wreckage.
Return O Lord, rescue
my soul, save me because of Your lovingkindness. Psalm 6:4
