"He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me. Psalm 50:23a
What does "a sacrifice of thanksgiving"
mean? No, it doesn't mean to give up Thanksgiving and all the
trimmings! It means to thank God in the middle of turmoil. To
purposefully look for God's good blessing and say "Thank
You" instead of complaining or cursing God. We're creatures
of very bad habits. It's easier to dwell on the misfortune of
our lives than to search out the goodness that is also there.
Granted, sometimes it seems that there can be too much turmoil,
but we should dwell on the goodness that is there.
A challenge for today: begin to practice your sacrifice of praise
and thanks to God. Thanking even if you don't feel it; see if
your overall attitude begins to change in difficult situations.
I'm not saying it'll be a walk in the park, but how about creating
a park like setting no matter where you are and then enjoying
the beauty and wonder as you walk with the Lord?
If you choose to praise when nothing in your life is praiseworthy,
you will invite the Lord to join you as you go through the trouble.
God will do more in our brokenness than in our stubbornness.
If you are holding on to stubbornness, you are probably feeling
very alone. Run, don't walk back to the Lord.
The most wonderful thing on a dark grey rainy day is to see the
brightest flowers in the garden. We too can have our grey days
brightened if we look for the brightest spots that are there.
O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth
may declare Your praise. Psalm 51:15
