A Time of ChangeThere is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1
The Bible tells us to bear
fruit, but we need seasons of rest too. Plants need rest because
they put so much into blooming and growing fruit. Trees loose
leaves in the fall, it doesn't mean they are dead or dying, but
the season of rest has come. We need seasons of rest for the same
reason.
I find this a difficult place. If I'm not helping or producing,
then I feel worthless and useless. But, if I don't take down
time, I loose my passion and compassion for what I do and those
I help. God isn't looking for quantity but quality.
As we look expectantly for signs of growth in spring, God wants
us to rest and be revived so we can produce new shoots of growth
when our spring comes.
During the season of rest, allow God to pour His care into your
life so you can produce the most beautiful blossoms in your spring
that will touch others deeply.
If we ignore God's hand of cultivation, we allow the disease of
self-indulgence to take hold, which opens us up to the decay of
the enemy's lies. You can see signs of disease and decay in the
lives of those who don't let God take them into rest. Their lives
bear no signs of growth or change.
Remember the part of the Lord's Prayer, "Lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil." God can only deliver
us if we allow Him to.
Let the fall of your life be a time of rest not a falling way
from God's intended plan.
Rest in the Lord and
wait patiently for Him. Psalm 37:7
