Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will also
do.
John 14:12
We have heard or seen "WWJD"
on bumper stickers, bracelets and other items. Most of us know
immediately what these letters stand for. "What Would Jesus
Do?" But, I believe we need to change these letters to "WDJD:
What Did Jesus Do?"
We could easily say, Jesus would have done this, but things can
really change if we'll say, what DID Jesus do?
During my childhood dad always said, "Do as I say not as
I do." There are a lot of Christians who are exampling this
behavior to the people they come into contact with. We say it
by our actions, words and lifestyles. Jesus didn't say do what
I would do, but do AS I have done.
The world doesn't trust us because we say one thing and do something
else. Jesus meant what He said and did what He said. He never
compromised, rebelled, lied or disobeyed. He loved, forgave,
and served all. He did what was right and not what was socially
acceptable. He didn't give in to His circumstances, but used
them to set an example for us to follow. He embraced the socially
unacceptable, He forgave all who asked, and He lived a lifestyle
that was righteous and pure.
When we hold the mirror of Jesus to our lives it should reflect,
"What Jesus DID do". If it doesn't, then we should
be challenged to change and choose to live exactly by the word
"DID" and not the word "WOULD".
There are those just waiting for us to example what should be
done.
