Not a NothingBut you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession. 1Peter 2:9
Have you ever heard someone
say, "You're really something." Sometimes it is a sarcastic
remark. But God really means it. We are "something"
to Him. Others may not always value us, but God always values
us. There is not one of us beyond His loving, caring arms and
eyes.
We were not created for an illegitimate purpose, but for a legitimate
relationship. God didn't breathe life into us and then abandoned
us. God wanted us; we were not created by accident. He chooses
to walk with us. Genesis tells us "He walked with Adam in
the cool of the evening."
And, even after the fall of man we were not abandoned. He has
proven His intentional love and dedication to us as His own.
We have examples all through the Bible of His protection and deliverance
to us as "something" to Him.
The crescendo of His love for us, His chosen, was His death for
our life. We are not a nothing. We all have value. There is
nothing that we have done and there is nothing that has been done
to us that has or ever will change our value to God. He is waiting
for us to accept His unconditional love, compassion and mercy.
So, the next time you are feeling like a "nothing" remember
that you are under the watchful eye of God and He sees you as
"something."
For you once were not
a people, but now you are the people of God: you had not received
mercy, but now you have received mercy. 1 Peter 2:10
