Our TrustAnd when the hour came,
He and the twelve apostles with Him reclined. And He said to them,
with desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before
I suffer. Luke 22:14-15
Where's our trust?
Job, material possessions, spouse, friends, education; in truth;
none of these will remain. At some point we'll lose them and
these definitely won't keep us from troubles.
Jesus knew what was coming and wasn't showing stress or fear.
He was enjoying a meal with His disciples, why? He trusted His
Father who promised a rescue from the grip of death.
Our trust should be in the Lord, not the things of this world,
they will not last. The Bible tells us worry doesn't add one
more day to our lives. Studies do show that worry will take away
days. The ability to trust comes through faith, faith in Jesus
and His promises.
As Jesus hung on the cross every sin that had or ever will be
committed was upon Him. At any point before or during the cross
He could have used the authority and power that was His as God
to end it. But that wouldn't have accomplished redemption from
sin and death.
He endured, died and trusted God to raise Him as promised. If
Jesus could trust in death, shouldn't we trust Him in our life?
Experiencing doubt and fear isn't failure, failure comes when
we don't run to Him and trust in our turmoil. Jesus dealt with
fear and doubt in the garden, but He let go His will and trusted
in the promises of His Father.
To those who were to receive
what he promised, God wanted to make it very clear that he would
never change his purpose; so he added his vow to the promise.
