Restore the joy of Your salvation to me, and provide me with a spirit of willing obedience. Psalm 51:12(GW)
Happiness and joy are very different.
Happiness comes when things are going our way. But quickly disappears
when they don't. Joy remains even during difficult times. How's
this possible? Because happiness is created when good happens.
It depends on the moment. Joy comes from God. It knows even
though we don't like the pain of the moment, which doesn't make
us happy, that this will not last and helps us to find hope in
the middle of it all. It's resting in God's arms when life is
difficult. It doesn't mean we aren't feeling hurt, grief, or
even anger. It does mean we seek encouragement. The key to living
this way; it's our choice.
No one can do it for us it's our decision.
We hear every day, "you can be happy if you have this, wear
that, go here, know them". Satan himself authors this lie
and we're biting.
We will never have anything from this world satisfy. It will create
dissatisfaction leaving us wanting more.
God offers contentment. When we are content with what we have
then we know satisfaction. Knowing contentment comes from experiencing
the joy of the Lord. Joy is having strength to stand when times
are difficult and not going our way. It knows that God will provide
for us in His perfect timing and allows us to surrender to Him
so He can work His perfect plan for us.
What the world offers leaves us looking for more. The world's
offer is limited, but God's offer is limitless.
Which investment, joy or happiness?
I am not complaining about having
too little. I have learned to be satisfied with what I have. Philippians 4:11(CEV)
