You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; Your loving kindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. Psalm 40:11
Mom planted a garden every
summer. The only way to keep the food was to can it. The process
seemed quite brutal. Boiling water and pressure was needed.
When all things were just right the food was sealed under pressure
and would be preserved. It would last until the seal was broken.
When we accept Jesus as our redeemer, His seal is placed upon
us. It tells Satan that we're now His. But it doesn't end there.
He knows for us to be preserved there will have to be some pressure
and hot situations for us to be protected and preserved. If we
allow God to have His perfect way in our lives, we will know His
perfect peace. If we resist the process, the seal will be compromised
and we'll be exposed to the influences of this world. If we give
into the influences we'll be spoiled. But unlike a jar of bad
anything that mom threw out, God can and will redeem us. We're
never beyond His ability or desire to restore and reseal us.
His preserving process won't change, but the process can change
us. No matter what we've done or where we are, He's waiting with
open arms to preserve us again. He can't wait to tell the enemy,
"This one's Mine!" He went to the cross to redeem you.
He did it because He's in love with you.
