Feast During Famine

For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'The bowl will not run out of flour or the jar run out of oil before the day that I, the LORD, send rain." I Kings 17:14

This story is about a widow during a great drought that led to famine. She was gathering sticks for a fire in order to use the last of her flour and oil to bake a meal for herself and her son. A prophet came to her and asked her to make him a meal. She replied I have only enough for us and then we will die. The prophet said do as the Lord commands and He will meet your need until the rain comes.

We are living in an economic famine. No one knows what tomorrow holds. We fear losing our jobs and homes. It is easy to fall into a black hole of depression and hopelessness. But these are days when God desires to rain down His blessings. We spend our days placing blame, and that only leads to more depression and hopelessness. OR, we could put our trust in the One who holds all our tomorrows. He is waiting for us to allow Him to show us all He holds for us. It isn't hard.
We only have to say, "Lord I trust in You, show me Your love and Your peace during these days of uncertainty."

Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the LORD himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:6
