Q: I notice you have been writing about lost dogs. What is with all the lost dogs?
A: I would like a good answer to that myself! I have my third lost dog in a month's time at my house. Several clients have lost dogs at their houses, and I see several more were found in Naches last week! Something is wrong with this picture! Most of these dogs are really nice dogs. Some are neutered and several have been older dogs.
One really has to wonder why people either dump their family pet or don't bother to try to find him when he gets lost!!! Not one of these dogs has been microchipped. This is a small device that is easily implanted under your dog's skin for a nominal charge, and it gives your name and address to the finder. How about a name tag? Not one dog has had one!
Not one dog has even been able to be returned to their original owner. This is so sad considering the faithful, loyal friends that dogs are!
People, if your dog is missing, please call the pound, the vet's, and check bulletin boards and papers for found dog ads. Sometimes, when your dog strays, a kindly soul will pick him up and place found ads; he is just waiting for you to callbut you never do.
Dogs love you and depend on you. Please help stop this disturbing trend and be a responsible pet owner!
This week we have 2 found dogs. One is a young male pitbull cross that has been lost for about 3 weeks. The people who rescued him are desperate to find him a home. He has a great disposition and is a friendly, kind dog. The other is an older black longhaired neutered male that was found on the South Naches Rd. near Yakima on Sunday the 17th; he had been there at least one day. He looks like part setter and labrador.
Please call me if you know anything about either dog or if you can take the first dog. He will be taken to the pound if someone doesn't take him right away, so please, be a hero!!
And folks, if you can't keep your dog, please find it a home, don't just dump it off. These dogs are really traumatized by this kind of treatment.
