Q: This time of year, I notice that my older dog is getting stiff and sore in the rear end. I wonder if there is anything that I can do for him?
A: I get this question a lot. There are numerous different treatments that we can try. Usually the cause of the soreness is arthritis in the hips.
This can be treated with anti-inflammatory drugs and also some healing agents. There are also dietary supplements that can be useful. It is worthwhile to try all these different treatment modalities, since all dogs are different, and they don't work the same on all dogs. Many dogs can be much improved with treatment.
Try different brands on your dog before you give up on him. Good luck!!
