Q: I heard that there is a vaccine that protects dogs from rattlesnake bite. Is that true and do you have it?
A: Actually, this vaccine is only approved for use in California, at the moment. I am hoping that it will be approved rapidly for use in Washington. The way it works, is that it causes antibodies to the snake venom to form in the dog's body so that if it is bitten, it will fight the venonous affects ot the bite and likely death will not occur. It will still have to be treated tor infection and swelling, though, but it won't be a dire emergency. Sounds wonderful and I will keep you posted as to when it is approved.
