Q: I hear that there is racing in Kennewick. Is that so?
A: Yes, is the resounding answer to your question! While horseracing in general has taken quite a hit in the past few years, it is alive and well in the Tri Cities area! Many people are unaware that there is live horseracing going on at Sun Downs in Kennewick. There is a mixed meet going on right now, meaning Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds, and even a few Arabs!
If you are looking for me, you will find me working there for the next three weekends. It is wonderful! There are more horses there than you can imagine! We are all hoping that racing survives in Washington, as it is a great industry that brings a lot of money to our side of the state.
You can show your support by going to Sun Downs (located at the Benton County Fairgrounds) and taking in a day at the races. You will find a slew (pun intended) of horses there for you to wager on and enjoy. Keep this huge industry going and viable by supporting Sun Downs. We need the hay and grain, horse farms and vets, shoers and tack shops to prosper. See you there!!!!
