Ask Dr. Kaia for Oct. 22, 2003
Q: I was wondering if you could do ultrasonic dental cleaning on my little Chihuahua without anesthesia?
A: The answer to that is yes and here is how we can do it! If you brush your dog's teeth every day and you use an electric tooth brush, the ultrasonic unit will not bother your dog a bit! You know they don't have to give you anything to clean your teeth, do they? If you wish to avoid anesthesia for your pet you need to start to familiarize them with a motorized object in their mouth, and then we can do the dental prophy easily without drugs.
Modern anesthesia is very safe so if you cannot brush your pet's teeth don't worry about that, we can still clean them for you.
Cleaning your pet's teeth is one of the very best things that you can do for your pet so be sure to ask about the benefits.
