Hi, All! This Week: Windows Vista! Part - 3

If you were with us the last two weeks you know I tried to install the new Windows Operating System Vista on two of my test PC's. One could not upgrade from Windows ME and the other was too slow and small.

I know that many of you in the valley are in the same boat. You are using the same PC that you got many years ago and you are still running Windows 95/98. What are your options? We know that Microsoft has stopped support for these older O/S's--no more security updates or fixes. If what you have is working for you, don't change. Maybe upgrade to Windows ME if you are running 95/98. If you have a newer PC, upgrade to XP; it works well on older hardware.

But if you want Vista, you will have to make sure your PC is at least 800 mHz and 512MB in RAM. All the current manufacturers exceed the speed requirements, and memory is inexpensive and easy to increase.

The other option is to wait until Vista comes out and purchase a Vista-built machine. At this time I cannot attest to its quality because I cannot test it.

'Til next week,
