This Week: What are they saying!

AFAIK we need a F2F FWIW ASAP.

HUH? What gibberish am I typing?

For those of you who IM (Instant Message), you probably can translate this sentence as: 'As Far As I Know' we need a 'Face to Face' 'For What It's Worth' 'As Soon As Possible'.

Being a troglodyte myself, I had not worried or cared about instant messaging 'shortcuts'. These are called shortcuts rather than acronyms, as IMers say each letter rather than turn the letters into a word, like 'RADAR'. However, I keep hearing them in daily speech and in emails, so I did an Internet search. I found many pages of web sites that have acronyms for IM, businesses and Military. Many of the acronyms are well known 'AKA, ASAP, LOL'. Others are new and exist to save one's thumbs as they are typing on their 'Blackberry' with said digits. Here are a few common acronyms of the more than 100 that I could find.

BBL - Be Back Later
BCNU - Be Seeing You
B4N - Bye For Now
BRB - Be Right Back
