A question from India Part 2

At first, accept my hearty thanks. Than -you again for your fast reply. Actually, I have two PCs, one of which is P-4 and other P-III. Since last one week I am having problem with my P-III. After switching on, the Mother board, HDD and other LED gets on and CPU fan runs. But thereafter it is not progressing further. This LEDS/Fan remains on till it is put off manually. I have tried several times by clearing CMOS , removing all daughter board & other accessories except AGP Card, HDD and keyboard, but nothing works. So out of frustration, I hooked to web and kept searching for COMPUTERFAQ and found your e-mail address. Regarding me, I am residing in a tiny/hilly/remote state of North-East INDIA called TRIPURA( Please Refer Attachment) and serving in local govt. police communication network. Finally I am really touched and glad by your fast and hearty reply. Please write me back in case if you can access the actual cause of the problem by reading this mail. Hope you will maintain such contact if I am in need, in near future.

I also had a P4 do the same thing to me; it would power up but nothing would happen. I was hoping to look into it again someday but have used most of the parts out of it now and doubt that I could get it back working even if I could figure out what is wrong with it. I sent e-mail to the maker of the PC but they did not have any ideas other than a new motherboard, and a new PC was cheaper than a new motherboard. I am afraid that I cannot give you any more hints regarding what to look for as you have done everything that I can think of.

Thanks for telling me where you are from; my publisher will be very happy that our little newspaper is now read internationally. Take care and let me know if you have any better luck on your PC than I had with mine.
