
Aug. 4, 2004 Hi, All; This Week: Three viruses revisited
As of July 15, 2004 4:15 PM (GMT -07:00; Daylight Savings Time), TrendLabs has declared a Medium Risk Virus Alert to control the spread of WORM_BAGLE.AF. TrendLabs has received several infection reports indicating that this worm is spreading in Canada and the US. This worm utilizes SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) to propagate. The email it sends out has varying email subjects, message body details and attachment file names. This worm also drops a copy of itself in folders with the text string, "shar", in its folder name. It uses a list of attractive file names for its dropped copies, leading other users to download a copy of this worm. It runs on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, and XP. TrendLabs has received several infection reports indicating that this worm is spreading in the United States. This worm utilizes SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) to propagate. As of July 26, 2004 8:31 AM (GMT -7:00 Daylight Savings Time), TrendLabs has declared a Medium Risk Virus Alert to control the spread of WORM_MYDOOM.M. TrendLabs has received several infection reports indicating that this malware is spreading in Singapore, Germany and the US. This worm spreads via email through SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).For more information on WORM_MYDOOM.M, you can visit our Web site at: http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_MYDO OM.M All of these viruses have been around for a while, but on PC's without the protection of anti-virus software, they keep reoccurring. Please either purchase an anti-virus program or scan your PC regularly with a free online scan.
