Hi, All;
This Week: Communications???

Hi Robert
This 'puter dummie has lost the http:// web browser slot on tiger mtn's home page,,, dont know where it ran off too, nor how to get it back...dont even remember if it was ever there since tm changed their home page..... help?
Gayle

Gayle;
To make sure your home page is set to TMT, in IE click on "tools" on the menu bar, then click on "Internet options." The attached screen will display. Then just make sure http://www.lewiscounty.com/ is in the default page box. Let me know if this helps.
Robert~

Robert:
It was my address bar that was missing.. I went into view, tools, then clicked off the standard bar button and clicked on the address bar and that brought it back.. seems like since microsoft up-dated to 2000, I have to learn to adjust to it, but I don't like changes. When your my age, it messes up my mind.a.lot I still dont have the mail button on tms home page, and Randy suggested that I go in and delete all the buttons I dont use to make room for it, but the delete button is dark, and won't allow it.. I can still access my email at the bottom bar, so guess I will live....
thanks
Gayle

As you can tell, Gayle and I were not on the same page regarding her problem, and it was a good thing she figured it out herself. I am using this in a column to show how important good communication is in email. I know that many people want the convenience of PC's and email but are afraid to spend a little time learning the jargon. In face-to-face conversation, the problem can be figured out pretty quickly with some questions and answers between the participants. With email, the same process works but takes a lot longer. But if one takes a little time to learn the parts of the Windows screens and some of the other jargon, issues can be resolved much quicker and with less frustration for both parties. So for the next few columns, I will label the parts of Windows screens, to help with communicating with each other and with your PC support person.

'Til next week, (ComputerFAQ#196)
