This Week: Some suggestions to Computerfaq #193

A reader writes: Last week Susan was unable to open photos emailed to her on her IMac. She recommended opening the problem emails using web mail to view the photos. Here are some suggestions and help for Susan and all computer users. Susan's problem may be that she simply needs to upgrade her Outlook Express to the current version, which she can do online with automatic installation. I believe she would then be able to display and print nearly all image formats right from Express. The newest Internet Explorer 5 for Mac will run in her OS 8.1. Her original iMac is capable of being upgraded not only through OS 9.2.2 but to OS 10. I believe all of the upgrades include QuickTime, which should be an alternative way for her to display and print images. It's surprising her OS 8.1 doesn't have QuickTime. Her 233 MHz processor speed will be somewhat slow but there's nothing the original iMac 233 won't do. Macs don't become dinosaurs nearly as soon as PC's do.

These are good suggestions for all computer users, both MAC and PC. Keep your software updated as much as possible, especially your email and browser programs. The new versions of them have fixes and new features that are needed to stay current with the technology.
