This Week: I tried some new things this past week.

I bid on a new printer on Ebay; it was a new experience. With the automatic bid option, getting the printer I wanted for a price I wanted was very easy. I got a Dell All in One (printer, scanner, copier, fax) printer, an older model, based on the current model number that Dell is selling, but a good buy for $31.00. Shipping was $26.00! Still, $56.00 for this refurbished printer is not a bad price. I like the printer, have tested all the functions, and found them to be very good. The print quality is excellent, and the software installed easily and did not remove my existing fax program. There are two things I do not like about it; first, to use the printer for anything, the computer has to be up and running. Second, the software only runs on XP, so it appears that my other PC's that are using Windows ME will not be able to even print to this printer and certainty will not be able to use any of the other functions.

This means that I, too, have some equipment to be reused/recycled--a scanner that is old enough that it will run only on Windows ME or older, and a Lexmark Z12 printer. However, with my Dell AIO Dell gave me a mailing label with which to send my old printer to them for recycling free of charge, including shipping. You can also go to www.dell4me.com/recycling and purchase recycling. You can recycle or donate (if you have what is needed) old equipment, just about anything electronic, for only $15.00. I checked the web site, and it indicated there is a current sale that allows you to recycle equipment for only $5.00. I think that is a good deal. Check out the web site even if you don't have anything now; you may need it someday.
