This Week: How to get rid of an old PC

So, you got a new PC and your old one is now a paperweight taking up space. What do you do with it?

The main thing you should not do is to take it to the transfer station; there is nothing worse than filling up our valuable landfill space with electronic garbage.

The next option is trying to sell it at a garage sale or giving it to a friend that does not have one. Depending on its age, you may be able to donate it to a charity or other worthy cause that can use it. If your PC is too old and slow, do not give it to a charity, as the charity cannot use it any more than you can, and you will "donate" a problem.

I am happy to offer my services as a clearinghouse to match up people who need a PC with people who have one to get rid of. If you have a need for a PC, or you have one to get rid of, send me a note at the email address or snail mail address below, and I will see if we can connect.

If all else fails, then it is time to go to the Internet and type "recycle pc" in the search box and find a company that will recycle your PC and monitors, sometimes for free and sometimes with a charge.
