My friend's mother died, and she asked me for help going through the things at her mom's house. It freaks me out! I've never had to do anything like this before, and she's really sad about her mom.

You'll do fine. Your friend asked you because she trusts you to handle it when she gets emotional, which she will, and cries, and to be a practical help with a household full of stuff. A lot depends on circumstances, but I've found it's best, if there is a place to store some of it, to box up items your friend isn't sure about keeping or discarding and to deal with those another time. You would hate for her to get rid of things she'll wish she'd kept later, and it may be difficult for her to make the most clear headed decisions while she's so upset. Pray, and God will give you strength to be calm and help your friend with a difficult task.

I'm going out with a new guy I like, but he won't turn his cell phone off, even when we're eating dinner. We haven't been alone together yet, because his friends constantly call and interrupt. It's like his phone is wired to his ear.

This is very immature behavior on his part. Tell him what you told me. If you can't talk about this face to face, call him on his cell phone and tell him how you feel. If he's not into you enough to want alone time with you during this, the "honeymoon period" of your relationship, don't expect much after you become old hat to him. There's other (wireless) fish in the sea.
