I thought you wrote about Momma's Boys before, but I couldn't find it. I've been married once, and have an eight-year-old daughter. I met a man I thought might be husband number two, but he calls his mother so often it bothers me. Not just checking in with her, making sure she's okay, but asking her advice on everything. If we're going to see a movie, he asks her if she's heard any reviews on it. When we took my daughter shoe shopping, she had to be asked first who had the best sales. It goes on and on. When we first dated, it didn't bother me so much, but as time goes on, I feel resentment toward her and his constant consulting with her. Advice?

I'll resist the temptation to tell you to call his mom and ask her! That's not very funny, is it? Sorry. I couldn't find where I'd written about Momma's Boys either, but after fifteen years, it feels like we've hit on every topic under the sun! Girl, I would run the other way. Why on earth must he call his mother about your decision on where to buy your daughter shoes? I'm sorry, but that is not normal. If he leans on his mother that much for every day decisions, what's he going to do if she dies or becomes mentally incapacitated? And, if you were to go further into your relationship with this man, where would the mother-in-law fit into your marriage? Why are you attracted to a man so watery in the first place? You sound a lot more together than that. Look deeper into the ocean, my dear. With all those fish in the sea, there's no reason to settle for one so spineless.
