Feb. 9, 2005 Dear Annie,
It took me awhile, but I finally sat down to write in response to your "Stop Complaining!" column. Right on! The "right to whine" thinking that is prevalent in our society today makes me sick. It's all part of the same mind set that some folks have that believe they're entitled to everything. They don't want to work, but they feel they should be entitled to the same nice housing as those who do. They say, "Everybody else," all the time, as in, "Why shouldn't I sue for damages? Everybody else is." Thanks for reminding us that a free ride isn't guaranteed to us. America is as strong as its workers and as weak as its whiners.

We must be related! I'm always right, too! If our country's as weak as its whiners, we're in trouble, Al! Thank God there's the rest of us who work when we don't want to, appreciate food and a warm bed as blessings, and keep our mouths shut about "everybody else!"

Dear Annie,
I had to tell an employee to clean up and start coming to work smelling good, and it was the hardest thing I've ever done! Please put something in your column reminding people that their bad hygiene can limit their progress up the career ladder! Maybe another manager will be spared my anguish!

That is an awful position to be put in, poor you! A friend of mine just had to do the same thing, and he said the worst thing was, after he paid for the employee's hair cut and helped with his dental bills, the guy quit and went for a higher paying job!
