I'd like to comment on the letter from "Patience Wearing Thin," who is being harassed at work by a man who constantly teases her. OR HIM! You assumed this writer was a woman and told "her" to put her mug in her purse so it wouldn't be tampered with anymore. There were other remarks in your response that made it obvious you thought the writer was a woman. Why? Maybe the victim is also a man!

You're correct, the writer identified the office bully as a man, but did not specifically say she was a woman. However, she wrote on flowered stationery that most men would never use, and the fact that her tormentor makes fun of her "silly shoes" and the fact that she uses an umbrella between the car and office also led me to believe she was of the fairer sex. Perhaps a broad assumption on my part (pardon my play on words) but I stand by that notion. What are you, an officer in the politically correct police force? You'll catch me out someday, I'm sure, but the writer of that letter was a woman!

Dear Annie,
I'm glad you didn't tell the lady who was being bothered at work to start a lawsuit. There are too many frivolous law suits already, and many things can be taken care of without legal action! Remember the good old days when lawyers were used for wills and divorces, not called every time a person falls down or feels insulted? We need to get back to that!
