I related to the writer who was afraid to bring a guest to meet her family for Thanksgiving dinner. I, too, will be bringing a "boyfriend," only I'm in my fifties! I'm not bothered by my family's table manners, they're atrocious, but that's the least of my worries. What I dread is the constant advice. My brother weighs over three hundred pounds at 5'8", and constantly lectures on diet. Family meals are a favorite forte for this, since there's food! His wife won't talk, she's too busy smoking. My mother's male friend gives advice on every subject. Every sentence out of his mouth begins, "You ought to, "What I'd do," or, "I wouldn't put up with that!..."Heeding your advice to the young writer, I warned my date already. He responded with an evil laugh and said, "Wait until dessert at my Mom's."

I sure hope you and the other lady write back and let us know what happened! Our family dinners are sounding more and more normal...but I'll get back to you on that idea after that Thursday in November, too!

I wasn't about to tell you who I will be voting for. That is sure to cause trouble! I agree, people are strongly divided on this vote. It is my hope that such forceful opinions make people get out and vote! Or, for those of us who vote by mail, to get out the pen and postage stamps and vote!
