Dear Readers,
Can you handle one more column about Packwood's flea market? I know, some of you stay well hidden during that weekend. You didn't move way out in the boonies to be bombarded by people and traffic. But it's fun! We keep coming back. This year I was fortunate enough to be invited to the Packwood Senior Center, where I met my friends the Samuelsons, and Jean and Bob Tapscott and their son. What a lot of nice people you have over there in Packwood! Good hosts, too, aren't you? It can't be all roses, having so many people in your little area, since we know people mean cars, noise, garbage and the need for restrooms, but you guys keep letting us come and wander around. Thank you! Your hospitality continues to amaze me. Now, a note to others who visit the flea markets there: Must you bring your dogs? Don't you think they'd be more comfortable at home, where food and water are close by, and they know where to go to the bathroom? Most people are smart enough to bring only little, or at least well behaved, dogs to a place that's going to be hot and crowded, but some of you were not that smart. Some of you brought ill mannered, aggressive dogs, dogs who tried to attack other dogs, and growled at people. Are you crazy? Are you wishing for a lawsuit? Memorial Day, and next Labor Day, leave those dogs at home.
