I want to move out of my boyfriend's house, but I don't know if my folks will let me move back home. They didn't want me to live with him in the first place. Things were okay at first, but then I took a cut in pay at work, and now it seems like he's always mad about how broke we are. Everything that comes up turns into an argument about money, and now he's even poking into every dime I spend. I never realized how materialistic he is. Life with him is no fun anymore. If you will print this, my mom will read it and know it's from me. Thanks, Annie.

You shouldn't be talking to me, you should be talking to your parents! Ask them to let you have your old room back, but be prepared for a lecture. If you were my daughter, I'd give you one (write her at my address, she'll tell you!) What worries me is I'm not sure you've learned anything from your experience. That old adage about watching how a man behaves when he's got a flat tire to fix out in the rain, how he treats little kids, and all that, is true. In your case, you learned the hard way how that man behaves "in richer or in poorer." Move out! Behave! Learn your lesson! And next time, wait! Your sentence, "Life with him is no fun anymore," reveals your true immaturity. Wait until you are so sure about the next guy you want to move in with, that you are married to him first. Life won't always be fun with him, either, but you'll love each other enough to ride out the rough spots together. Now go call your mom.
