Ask Annie for Oct. 8, 2003

Dear Annie,

Please print this prayer for the two angels sent to heaven from Ashford in September:

Lord, we don't know why two girls from one family would be taken so swiftly. We're too human to understand. Please give us wings, to fly heavenward ourselves and see them smiling. Please give us open arms to hug their mother, their father and their brother, not just now when grief is fresh and new, but in the winter and next summer and every year after this terrible time for them. Please give us faith, to remember You're in charge, and You'll take care of everyone in that family, those still on Earth and those in heaven above, with tenderness and with love.

Another Mother in Ashford, WA

Dear Mother,

Our hearts go out to the Brown family. As you say, we're too human to understand the Master's plan, but we need to do what we can to comfort those left behind to deal with this tragedy. Your heartfelt prayer helps. For those of you readers who don't already know, Shalece, 16, and Brittany Brown, age 12, were killed in a one car accident on their way from Ashford to Morton to school one morning last month, and both communities mourn their loss.

Annie

Dear Annie,

Why are we so set on a September to June school year in this state? I suggest we start school the beginning of October and aim for a July 1st release date. June is usually the rainiest month of the summer, anyway, and September is generally sunny. The kids would have more "summer" my way.

Sunny, Morton, WA

Dear Sunny,

I don't know about your school district, but over here we go 'til almost July first now! I agree, June is often a rainier month than September.
